Heidi Figueroa - Martins Dental Partners, Beverly MAHeidi, a Licensed Dental Assistant, joined Martins Dental Partners after four years of working in the Dental field. Heidi is excited to have found the environment she's yearned to work in, one that is team centered and cares about working together to create an amazing patient experience.  “I enjoy coming to work knowing I’m going to help someone today. I've heard many people say they hate the dentist so it brings me happiness when a patient tells me how relaxed they feel at Martins Dental Partners and thank the team and I for our great efforts”.

Heidi primarily works with the restorative dentists assisting patients from start to finish during their dental treatment. Her calm attitude and friendly personality help alleviate any anxiety patients have during their visit and maintain the team focused culture vital to Martins Dental Partners.

Heidi is family focused and tries to spend as much time as possible with her family, hanging out by the pool and taking her grandmother to her favorite stores and yard sales. She is also a dog mom to two French bulldogs, Coco and Buddha. In her spare time, Heidi enjoys listening to music, dancing, running by the beach, hiking and canoeing.

Q: If you weren't working for Martins Dental Parters, what would your dream job be?
A: If I was not working for MDP my dream job would be working as a social worker with a minor degree in behavioral health counciling.

Q: Other than MDP, what is your favorite Beverly MA location?
A: My favorite Beverly MA spots are Lynch Park and City Side Diner. In the morning I sometimes go and grab a quick, and wicked cheap breakfast at City Side Diner. I enjoy Lynch Park in the summer time because there's always some kind of event going on like lobster fest and homecoming. I also think it's awesome they still host movie nights on the lawn under the dome.

Q: Who is the most influential person in your life?
A: I can't pick a single perso - my parents and my two brothers have all influenced me in different ways. If is was not for watching my parents grow and work to better themselves everyday, and them pushing me to continue with school, I probably would not be a LDA experiencing this awesome opportunity at MDP. My younger brothers were both born with developmental disabilities and autism, and growing up I saw how hard life was for them so they are the influence in me pursuing my education in mental health and social work at SNHU.

Q: Whats the best advice you've ever received?
A: Save every penny

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the word, where would it be?
A: If I could travel anywhere in the world I would go to Japan. I was just talking with a patient about an upcoming trip to Japan he has planned with his daughter. While in Japan they're taking the time to hike Mount Fuji, 6 hours up and 5 back down, to see the sunset. That is something I would love to experience!

Dr. Sukhpreet Heer, a licensed general dentist, joined Martins Dental Partners after relocating to Massachusetts from Northern California, where she practiced following dental school.

Dr. Heer knew dentistry was her calling after working in dental laboratories and shadowing dentists during college. She enjoys working with patients of all ages and comfort-levels, but particularly loves helping kids feel at ease throughout their treatment.

Dr. Heer believes in fostering a close working relationship with her patients to help develop personalized treatment plans suited to their needs and goals. She is passionate about patient-centered care and is excited to be part of a practice that values and prioritizes this approach to dentistry.

Dr. Heer lives in Lynnfield with her husband and enjoys baking, hiking and yoga in her free time.

Q: If you weren’t working for Martins Dental Partners, what would your dream job be?
A: I'd be a Baker - I have a huge sweet tooth and am always looking for ways to make some of my favorite treats a little healthier.  Lately, I’ve been working on a double chocolate zucchini bread recipe, which is still a work in progress.

Q: If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: I'd love to visit Santorini - The whitewashed villages carved into cliffs against the turquoise Aegean Sea looks absolutely beautiful.  A view like that instantly puts me in a state of tranquility.

Q: What are you currently reading?
A: Rafik Schami’s Damascus Nights - I came across this book while browsing through a used bookstore in Gloucester with my husband.  The book is an interesting read about Salim, the most famous storyteller in Damascus who loses his voice and his seven friends who help him find it.

Q: What’s your favorite inspirational quote?

Torrie, a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH), earned her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene at Mount Ida College. In her role as a Registered Dental Hygienist, Torrie has the privilege of developing close relationships with each patient who visits Martins Dental Partners and makes patients feel comfortable and relaxed with her friendly and outgoing personality.  “When I was young, I was always afraid of the dentist and of getting my teeth cleaned. Being able to relate to patients who share that fear was one of the primary reasons I became a Dental Hygienist. I strive to provide my patients with a calming and stress-free experience.” says Torrie.

In her spare time, Torrie enjoys spending time with her family including her grandmother who lives on the South Shore. She also loves dogs, especially her two Siberian Huskies Tasha and Denali, watching The Bachelor and listening to Fleetwood Mac.

Q: If you weren't working for Martins Dental Partners, what would your dream job be?
A:  If I wasn’t a Dental Hygienist I think my dream job would to be a yoga instructor, and to own my own yoga studio. Yoga is something I've always enjoyed doing and I think it would be very rewarding to be able to share my enthusiasm for it with other people.

Q: What's your favorite inspirational quote?
A: My favorite inspirational quote is “The best view comes after the hardest climb.” This is my favorite quote because I can relate to the meaning behind it. I find that if I am going through something challenging, the end result is much more gratifying after having worked so hard to accomplish it.

Q: Who is the most influential person in your life and why?
A: It’s hard to pick one influential person in my life, I'd have to say my family has had the greatest influence in shaping me into the person I am today.

Q: If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: One place I have always wanted to travel to is Barcelona in Spain. The main reason I'd love to go is because of the unique architecture. They have so many beautiful buildings and cathedrals. I'd also love to go shopping at Mercado de la Boqueria which is a giant food market.

Q: What are you currently reading?
A:  I am currently not reading anything right now but I always enjoy reading something that makes me laugh. However, my favorite book is The Glass Castle written by Jeanette Walls. If you have any suggestions, let me know at your next visit!

Dr. Fisher developed a passion for dentistry while going through orthodontics as a teen. She also discovered she could use the skills she'd developed through years of art classes to help others gain confidence in their smile.

Dr. Fisher and her husband Stefan, both Michigan natives, are expecting their first child this fall. In her free time, Dr. Fisher admits she watches more TV than she should, but also enjoys hiking and exploring the New England historic sites.

Q: If you weren't working for Martins Dental Partners, what would your dream job be?
A:  While dentistry does fit me perfectly, if I had to choose something else, I would make jewelry. I dabbled in jewelry-making for years while in high school and college, and am currently acquiring my own tools in order to start up again. The only problem with being a jeweler is that I would love each ring or set of earrings so much that I would never have the heart to sell it!

Q: What's the best advice you've ever received?
A:  The best advice I ever received is a well-known, but seldom followed phrase: “don’t sweat the small stuff.” I’ve spent years letting my social anxiety get the better of me and it keeps me from becoming my best self. I still fall victim to it, but I am more aware of it and try to overcome it. The one good thing that has come from social anxiety is that I can relate more to people with dental anxiety or other anxieties. Anxiety is not rational- you can tell yourself many times over that “there’s nothing to be afraid of,” and “it won’t be the same as last time,” but it’s hard to stop your mind from going back to that same place.

Q: If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: I would love to visit Croatia! Specifically, I want to see the Plitvice Lakes. Pictures that I have seen of the lakes and its waterfalls make it seem like a fairytale land.

Q: What are you currently reading?
A:  I just recently joined my first book club and our next book is “Orphan Train,” by Christina Baker Kline. In addition to that, I am already reading some books about pregnancy and birth, as I am expecting my first child this fall!

Q: What's your favorite inspirational quote?
A: My favorite quote has been paraphrased in so many ways that I don’t know who said it first: “Happiness is not the result of a lifetime of fortune and good luck, you must choose to be happy.”  In this lifetime, we’ll never know why certain things happen to us while others appear to have good fortune. Being happy is not about getting through difficult times and maybe other people aren’t as fortunate as we perceive. Life is about choosing happiness, despite what happens to you.
