Get to Know MDP: 5 Questions with Dr. Joseph Whitney
Dr. Whitney chose to pursue a career in dentistry after spending time in college with a group of dentists. He was impressed by the unique combination of art, science and patient care involved in the practice of dentistry. Dr. Whitney prides himself on developing deep relationships with his patients while delivering high quality dentistry in a comfortable environment. “Our patients place a lot of trust in their dentist, and that relationship starts with good communication. I always want my patients to know they’ve been given all possible options with proper education as we collaborate on a plan for their oral health.”
Q: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
A: Treat others as you would like to be treated. My parents taught me this at a very young age and it remains a principle that applies to most life experiences.
Q: Describe your personality in one word.
Q: If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: Mount Everest Base Camp. I have always enjoyed hiking and over the past few years have found myself watching extreme mountain climbing documentaries. Base camp offers an opportunity to experience the power of the Himalayas while being safe enough to feel confident I will return home to my patients.

A: Biography of Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power by Jon Meacham
Q: What is one unique skill that you’re proud of?
A: I began singing in high school after trying out for our school’s musical. Since then I have been part of a number of singing groups, even making a summer job out of it by singing acapella on Cape Cod while in college.
